Santorini honeymoon is the dream of every couple that is planning their big day. With its iconic blue-domed chapels, varnished villages, and exciting coastline, a honeymoon in Santorini is an obvious choice for couples looking to pair luxurious romance with a taste of adventure.
Even if Santorini is a small island, it’s also bound with stimulating things to do and chances to invest in the kinds of once-in-a-lifetime encounters that a honeymoon often justifies.
Plan your Santorini honeymoon now! We’ve built this guide to make the planning process uncommonly simple. Planning a wedding is full of a hassle without the pressure of pulling off a honeymoon directly afterward, too!
The Best Things to Do on Santorini Honeymoon
Book Your Villa First
If there’s ever a time to celebrate on one luxury villa, it’s on your honeymoon in Santorini!
The best Santorini Villas are booked very fast, especially during the high season, so plan onward as much as you can–but if you travel outside of zenith season, you may be shocked at the deals you can close for those luxurious villas overlooking the sea!
When deciding where to stay for your Santorini honeymoon, we absolutely recommend sticking to one of three villages if you can: Oia, Imerovigli, or Fira, in about that order, if at all if you can.
Check this particular Santorini Villa for rent in Fira. It is named Uranus and it is ideal for two love birds like you.
If you would like to accomodate some of your guests or friends too, go for villa Serendipity that will offer you unbelievable moments as it has all the comforts and elegance!
Serendipity Luxury Villa in Santorini is an ideal choice for both accommodation, since it offers absolute privacy and tranquility, and events with maximum capacity up to 200 sitting guests, with music timeframe up to 3 am, details that guarantee an exceptional accommodating experience and an event you will never forget and regret.
Fall in love with Santorini Sunset
If there’s one thing you definitely must do on your honeymoon in Santorini, it’s watching the sunset from Oia: this is the most romantic activity in Santorini, and the moving sunset is absolutely majestic set against the sea.
Romantic Cruise in Santorini
You, your dear, and the wide sea: cruising around Santorini is a highlight of visiting the island, so be sure not to miss out!
For extra romance, reject the enormous tourist boats and opt for a smaller option with fewer people around.
Hiking along Caldera
Hiking along the Caldera from Fira to Oia is one of the most unique things to do in Santorini, and certainly justifies to be added on your Santorini honeymoon!
Wine Tasting in Santorini
Santorini wine is delicate, and if you and your mate are wine enthusiasts, you can’t miss this unbelievable highlight of Santorini!
Amoudi Bay Swimming
Want to spend a carefree day in Santorini? Go to Amoudi Bay! The scenes are remarkable, the water crystal-clear, and if you’re feeling a bit adventuresome, you can even (sparingly) try your hand at cliff jumping before calming down to a nice seafood lunch!
Santorini Volcano
Ever wanted to gaze into the abyss of an active volcano? On Nea Kameni, the island placed just next door to Santorini, you can!
An effortless 20-minute walk will take you from the marina to the crater, with utterly brilliant views of the gorgeous island along the way, with views of Santorini in the distance.
The hot springs are established close by, and you can effortlessly book a tour that takes you both places–we booked one similar to this and had an astounding time!
Fira's Old Port
Gorgeous views, much of sunshine, and a cocktail in hand: unwinding in Fira’s Old Port is a great way to kick back and decompress on Santorini–and unlike many things on a Santorini honeymoon, this one is pretty budget-friendly!
Be Smart off-season
You can spare notable amounts of money on your Santorini honeymoon by opting to travel off-season, especially March and October. Prices will be much lower. The water at Santorini’s beaches will probably be too cold to swim so booking a Santorini infinity pool villa will be great. Do not overthink about it, Santorini does not have the best beaches in Greece.
April and September, are more crowded and the prices are higher than if you push out for October or November.
May throughout August is the sunniest time to visit Santorini, but also when masses and prices will be at their very most expensive, with the full peak befalling in July and August.
Good to Know
Each town in Santorini sponsors its own style, though we truly enjoyed staying at Fira, for it had exceptional nightlife, shopping alternatives, more affordable food, and was short crowded in comparison to Oia, but still had a pleasant buzz to it.
Fira is also closer to the airport (10 minutes away) and port (15 minutes), and it is also more central and easier to explore the Southern parts of Santorini (plus beach towns), which explains why it is the capital of Santorini.
Imerovigli is popular among honeymooners for its peaceful ambiance. Oia does have a poetic flair to it and is loaded with many designer shops and exciting discoveries around the corners.
Santorini, the gem of the Greek Isles is also becoming a growing “wedding destination” for couples all over the world. This scenic destination offers you many dreamy experiences that will guarantee an unforgettable honeymoon!
